Asbestos vinyl and thermoplastic floor tile removal across London, including bitumen adhesive. Dust-controlled techniques, licensed disposal, ready for replacement flooring.
Asbestos was widely used in vinyl floor tiles, thermoplastic tiles, and the black bitumen adhesive underneath them, in UK buildings between the 1950s and 1980s. Kitchens, hallways, living rooms, schools, offices — all common locations.
Floor tiles are generally lower-risk while intact. The risk increases when they're broken, sanded, lifted incorrectly during renovation, or mechanically removed. Modern floor sanders, in particular, can release significant fibres if used on asbestos-containing surfaces.
We remove floor tiles using approved low-dust techniques, lift the bitumen adhesive where required, and leave the substrate ready for new flooring — usually within a single day for a typical room.

Many vinyl and thermoplastic tiles installed before 1990 contain asbestos — and the black bitumen adhesive underneath them often does too, even where the tiles themselves don't. The only reliable way to know is laboratory testing, which we can arrange for around £75 + VAT per sample.
Sometimes, yes — covering asbestos floor tiles with a new floor can be a valid management approach where the tiles are intact and well-bonded. But it's not always possible (the floor build-up may be too thick) and it doesn't solve the problem if you later sell the property or need to access the substrate. We'll advise honestly on what makes sense.
It depends on area, condition, presence of bitumen adhesive, and access. Typical room costs are £450+ but quotes are bespoke. Call us with rough dimensions for a phone quote.
We use sheeted-up, dust-controlled techniques — no power tools. The disturbance is minimal compared to mechanical removal.
A typical domestic room is half a day to a day. Whole-property jobs vary.
